For this weekly render i wanted to test some empty parenting to multiple objects to make them rotate localy on there own axies while rotating the axies of all sphere quaters at the same time.
For this i created groups of sphere quaters each group was connected to an empty itself.
I connected every empty to another empty wich represents the global axies.
With this connections it was possible to animate this rotations very easily and with full control.

The next step was to shade the objects. I decided to try out some subsurface scattering shaders. These should allow me to let the overlapping spheres shine trough each other.
At the end i created a mixture of a glass shader and the subsurface scattering shader. I used a modified version of fresnel to get a emission shader to the rim of every object. It makes it possible to let light shine trough the glass and sss.

The background is very easy. Its just an plane subdevided with a bit of random values. Afterwars added freestlye rendering for it, So it shows the edges in the final render.
The animation of the background is a simple wave modifier.
